If all of the Republican and media malfeasance grows to where it is impossible for all but the most committed wingnuts to ignore, there will be *major* housecleaning and bloodletting. Assuming there's a limit on just how much an election can be gamed. Indeed, Republicans getting caught red-handed rigging an election (I'm talking electronic vote tampering, not the stuff we've already seen get shrugged off) would be truly, permanently fatal, I believe.
