Friday Quote & Cat Blogging

This week’s quote is from the wildly delirious Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas:

There he goes – one of God’s own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production.

And, of course, there’ll be other people’s cats…

Once again, the shadowy and mysterious Codename F.

Unfortunately, she continues to decline. She’s lost about half her body weight (she was small – 6 lbs. – to begin with), and Codename V. fears that she may have gone blind. She also recently took what appeared to be a farewell tour of her favorite places in the house, as if saying goodbye. Including a slow and laborious climb down to the basement.

I’m sick about it, and V. is worse. F. is a very special kitty, and she’s just a shell of herself now.

Sorry to hear about F., who doesn’t look old. Is she, or is she afflicted with some disease? Surely you can Google some tests to determine her vision. Best of luck, Draco

She’s 15, *and* she has pancreatic cancer.

And she flunked the sophisticated “wriggling fingers” test.

Eli, so sorry to hear about F — when my Kitty Paws was losing weight last year it was heartbreaking to watch him get thinner and thinner and slower and slower.

So lovely. May she not suffer.

Please help V. find the strength she needs to do what she needs to do for the kitty. Don’t let the baby suffer, okay?

There’s no evidence that she’s suffering (the vet backs this up), and her behavior suggests that she still prefers to be living and with her family.

    F. is slowing down, and probably does not have long for this world, but she really isn’t showing the typical signs of pain or readiness for death.

She’s eating ravenously, and she’s still talkative and affectionate. She’s not flinchy or hiding or anything like that.

    Ahh, poor little thing.

If she’s still eating well then she still wants to be alive.

Actually, I think it’s harder on us than it is on them.

As for the blindness, when we thought lion kitty Maxx might not get his sight back, the vet told me they do pretty well because of the keeness of their other senses.

Just consider every single day with her a gift. When she’s ready to go, she’ll let you know.

That’s very harsh. You can get vey attached to a cat, and you feel responsible for them.
One of the reasons I like cats is they don’t get sick too often.

Bless you and Codename V and Codename F.

May you be touched by His Noodly Appendage, and may this be an easier load to bear for all of you. And may Codename F remain happy all the rest of her days, whatever their number.

(Best blessing I can come up with, but seriously, you’re all in my thoughts.)
