Stale NYC Backup Camera Subwayblogging

Well, since watertiger posted a pic of one of the NYC subway sculptures, it occurred to me that I still have a bunch of photos of them sitting around which I took with my wee backup camera. Since I’ve been on a New York kick anyway (and am running out of photos), I figured now’s as good a time as any to post them.

i’m sorry, a good part of my early work is about is about shooting dead animals, with my camera. it, in it’s small way, elicited both negative and positive response. but buying a dog and videotapiing shooting it is just plain fucked up.
one of my finer moments in this life was being selected to a group show at the ringling museum of art by none other than henry geldzahler. there was a guy in the show who had sculptures similar to tom otterness. they were, frivolous, fun, and cheeky. i think he was asking, and probably getting about 5 grand a piece. i wouldn’t call it “art”, but i don’t think he killed anything to make it.
on the other hand, audubon shot many of his birds, so i guess it ‘s relative.
