Statesmanliness

Given the incredibly volatile status of the Middle East, and the United States’ severely tarnished image in the global community, it is vitally important that our next president has a keen understanding of the intricacies of foreign policy, and the requisite delicacy to make America’s views and goals understood by all.

Today, John McCain proved to us all that he is indeed the right man for the job:

I bet $200 that this campaign-destroying moment doesn’t get 1/1000th the airplay that the “Dean Scream” got.

    Any takers?

OMG! I caught the first click on CNN this morning and thought, WTF? The second is priceless. What do you think are the root causes of such political spontaneous combustion, Eli?

I’m gonna go with somewhere between 1/100th and 1/20th. I think it’ll be played off as just a tin-eared lame joke.

I think politicians have a very poor sense of what is funny vs. what is incendiary, so when they try to be edgy, they inevitably fuck it up.
