Turns out my laptop’s hard drive was not fried; the USB disk enclosure was just crap. I got an IDE adapter and installed it into my PC, and it worked fine. I’ve salvaged all the key files off of it, so I should be back in business.

What Josh Marshall Says

I can’t argue with this:

Okay, I think we may have both the necessary and sufficient reason why Hillary Clinton shouldn’t be allowed to be president: her campaign song is by Celine Dion. Truly too horrifying to comtemplate.

Seriously, what on Earth was she thinking? Why not just go with Michael Bolton or Kenny G? I’m sure there are lots of people who think she’- wonderful, but I’m pretty sure I’ve never met any. Why pick a singer who is synonymous with awfulness that begs to be ridiculed?

No Cuke – Pepsi, Pepsi.

Well, this is certainly… interesting:

“Pepsi Ice Cucumber” hit the stores this week, but it doesn’t actually have any of the green gourd in it. Instead it has been artificially flavored to resemble “the refreshing taste of a fresh cucumber,” said Aya Takemoto, spokeswoman of Japan’s Pepsi distributor, Suntory Ltd.

“We wanted a flavor that makes people think of keeping cool in the summer heat,” Takemoto said. “We thought the cucumber was just perfect.”

The mint-colored soda is on sale just for the summer and only in Japan, Takemoto said. She said initial sales were brisk, and Suntory aims to sell 200,000 cases over the next three months.

I would actually be willing to try this, but then, I also like avocado milkshakes…

Northwest Indian Photoblogging

My sister had emphatically recommended the Northwestern Indians room of the Museum Of Natural History, and that ended up being our first stop purely by accident. It really is pretty amazing – the masks and totem poles are just incredible. Unfortunately, they’re also rather dimly lit, so I wasn’t able to get much. This is actually all of it:

This mask has issues.

That’s a little more like it. Kinda reminds me of the Greek tragedy/comedy masks.

Very dramatically lit totem.
