When Fox Attacks

NYT’s public editor does a nice job of smacking down Murdoch’s spokesliar’s claim that NYT deliberately distorted and falsified its reporting on Murdoch’s attempt to buy Dow Jones/WSJ because they fear that it would make the Wall Street Journal a tougher competitor.

But for some reason, doesn’t use the most obvious argument: That the acquisition wouldn’t make the WSJ a more fearsome competitor, because everyone would assume that the entire paper would become unserious right-wing propaganda, not just the editorial page.

Hey, is there any way Murdoch could just buy OpinionJournal? He could hardly make it any worse.

I personally hope that Murdoch does manage to buy the WSJ, but that’s just because I love pointilistic drawings of vacuous celebrities.
