Michael Savage’s Special Purpose?

I think I may have finally figured out Michael Savage’s role in the world.
There’s an old joke that Keith Richards’ primary function in the Rolling Stones is to make Mick Jagger look healthy. I think Savage’s primary function in talk radio is to make Rush Limbaugh look tolerant.

You forgot making Rush look sane and well-reasoned as well. Because I like a trainwreck, I’ve been listening to Savage and he’s convinced that his current lawsuit is going to be the defining moment in the protection of First Amendment Rights.
Then again, Savage is a seriously messed up person with an invented personality that his former friend Lawrence Ferlighetti describes as an “opportunist”.
I see him as a conservative Howard Stern. Someone with an on air personality that may or may not be anything like what he is in real life and making a bunch of money by being that person.
