Photo Of The Day

From the Daily Mail:

After weeks of freezing temperatures, a thick coating of icicles has completely transformed the landmark South Haven [MI] lighthouse.

The structure, which was built in 1903, and its access gantry have become a dramatic ice sculpture – which has been growing as decidedly chilly temperatures hover below zero.

Standing on a promontary, the lighthouse attracts visitors from across the world but is frequently subjected to extreme weather conditions.

The high level gantry was built in a desperate bid to keep access to the site open even when the lower deck was frosted over.

But even that plan failed to work this year as thick frost coated the whole structure.

Beautiful.
