Political Analogy

The last seven years have been like getting locked out of your apartment while a hyperactive and malicious toddler sets about destroying everything you hold dear, while you watch helplessly through the window. You can shout and pound on the glass all you want, but he just laughs and sticks out his tongue.

There’s a chance you might be able to get in soon, but picking up the pieces and cleaning up the mess might take more time then you have. You’re all too aware that there’s a whole bunch more evil toddlers lined up outside, fiddling impatiently with their locksmithing tools.

Imitation Is The Sincerest Form Of Incompetence

John N. Kennedy (presumably no relation; he’s a Republican gunning for Mary Landrieu’s LA Senate seat) has got to have just about the lamest internet operation on earth:

We haven’t heard much of anything from recent-Republican state Treasurer John N. Kennedy since he announced his 2008 Senate challenge to Senator Mary Landrieu (other than Treasurer Kennedy’s circa 1997-style Geocities website). Well, his out-of-date website isn’t his only technical flub. Apparently, he must have ripped off Senator Landrieu’s mass e-mail template. This appears to be the case because, at the bottom of a recent fundraising e-mail (see graphic below), when you click on the text that reads “Visit,” it takes you to Senator Mary Landrieu’s website! He changed the text but not the link! So all of Treasurer Kennedy’s supporters who click on the link get to read about Senator Landrieu’s many accomplishments on her website! Treasurer Kennedy is hilariously inept. If this is how he manages his campaign’s infrastructure, do you really want him having a hand in managing the nation’s infrastructure? (No wonder Treasurer Kennedy was so comfortable giving Halliburton no-bid contracts in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.)

Brilliant! How is this guy not head of FEMA? Or NASA? Or maybe he could be Special Technology Adviser to the President?

No, really, this is just pathetic. Republicans may suck at governance, but they’ve always been very good at campaigning; because they have to be. Here you see what happens when they campaign with the same work ethic and attention to detail with which they govern, and it’s not a pretty sight.

Friday Quote & Baby Meerkat Blogging

This week’s quote is from teen movie Can’t Hardly Wait, starring Jennifer Love Hewitt and Seth Green:

You know what they say about women and trolley cars – there’s plenty of them in the sea. Am I right or am I right?

They both look hot in miniskirts, too.

And, of course, there’ll be other people’s baby meerkats:
