Meet Sarah Palin

My very brief, thumbnail reaction:

She was fairly smooth, no major flubs or panic or flop-sweat.

She was also extremely nasty and smug – it was like Karl Rove meets Mean Girls.

She’s still lying about her opposition to the Bridge To Nowhere.

She once again violated operational security by announcing when her son was deploying.  Shouldn’t the Commander-In-Chief of the Alaska National Guard know better?

The audience gave me kind of a Two-Minute Hate vibe.

All in all, not very pleasant or likeable at all, although I fully expect the media to tell us otherwise.

Those mean liberal bloggers are at it again:

Josh Marshall cuts through the GOP’s machine-produced smoke today:

Since there is widespread agreement that the children of candidates should not become topics of campaign debate, it behooves us to note that the McCain campaign has almost singlehandedly made Sarah Palin’s daughter a central figure in the Republican convention.

Overwhelmingly, reporters are pressing eminently reasonable questions — her role in troopergate, her lack of experience, her connections to the AIP, her history of earmarking and lobbyists, etc. Meanwhile, the McCain campaign is going absolutely non-stop about Palin’s daughter. It is unmistakable.

…[T]o distract attention from the first objective and to help accomplish the second one, tonight at the Republican convention we’ll be treated to the spectacle of an entire political party trying to hide behind a pregnant 17-year-old girl.

If you happen to think there’s something unseemly about using an unborn fetus and its teenage parents as the political equivalent of human shields, well, get over it.  Haven’t you noticed that shamelessness has always been an essential part of McCain’s strategy?

This is simply appalling.  Why can’t these horrible liberal bloggers respect that poor girl’s right to be the centerpiece of the McCain campaign in private?

Wednesday Why-I-Love-The-Weekly-World-News Blogging

WWN dabbles in convention coverage:

James Carville took a bite out of his fellow Democrats yesterday.

Carville complained on CNN that the party had not yet articulated a clear message to the country during the convention.

Shortly after leaving the CNN set, Carville flew off into the Denver night to devour thousands of mosquitoes.

Can you prove it didn’t happen?

Keep This Quote In Mind…

If Sarah Palin and/or Team McCain start complaining about Obama/Biden’s sexist attacks:

“She does herself a disservice to even mention it, really,” Palin said. “When I hear a statement like that coming from a woman candidate with any kind of perceived whine about that excess criticism, or maybe a sharper microscope put on her, I think, ‘Man, that doesn’t do us any good, women in politics, or women in general, trying to progress this country,'” Palin said. “I don’t think it bodes well for her.”

Wait, did I say “if”?  I meant “when.”

The campaign just blasted out an op-ed by adviser Nancy Pfotenhauer under the heading “Ignore the Chauvinists. Palin Has Real Experience.”

Said McCain adviser Carly Fiorina: “Because of Hillary Clinton’s historic run for the presidency and the treatment she received, American women are more highly tuned than ever to recognize and decry sexism in all its forms. They will not tolerate sexist treatment of Gov. Palin.”

Also, Lindsey Graham:

“Would a man be asked this question? Probably not,” the South Carolina Republican said in an interview with Politico.

This surprises… no-one.
