There’s a little game I sometimes play with the shadowy and mysterious Codename V. called “Color Or Black & White?”, where I send her the color and B&W versions of the same photo and ask her which one she prefers. She almost always picks color, and I almost always pick B&W. I couldn’t decide on this next photo, sooo…

This one was a no-brainer, though. I especially like what the light and the grain do with that line of rivets on the left.

Normally I’m a B&W guy, but for this one, I’m going with Color. I think it’s the varying shades of red and reflectance of the fuselage around the propeller that does it for me.

The hand crafted nature of old planes are more visible to my eye in color. You do great work finding contrast in B&W, but the warmth of the wood and the grace of the lines show better in color.

I’m starting to come around. Side by side, the B&W looks a little flat in comparison.
