I’m still trying to figure out what it is that ACORN has purportedly done wrong. They send people out to collect registrations, they’re required by law to submit all of them, they attempt to verify all of them, and they very clearly flag the ones that are suspicious. Which makes it easier for unscrupulous Republican election officials to wave them around as proof that ACORN is guilty of fraud.
It’s kind of a structural no-win situation for ACORN, but they’re simply not doing anything illegal. And even if they were, all it does is inflate the apparent size of the Democratic party, it doesn’t have any effect on the actual votes. Voter suppression and sketchy voting machines have an effect on actual votes, and those are all Republican.
But ACORN sure does make a nice boogeyman to “prove” that we need to crack down on nonexistent voter fraud by making it harder for the unwashed rabble poor people and minorities to vote.

Rush just won’t be happy until he has his race war, will he.
As we are witnessing, the conservative movement is in shambles now and the only thing they can do is spew racist hatred out into the world and hope it sticks to their audience in droves. And how is the conservative right going to make sure race is all you can think of when you think of the name Obama?
How about by making the case that blacks in general are lazy, angry, and engaged in a 3 decades old plot to train black children as militants against the US? It’s those scary black terrorists again. Don’t think anyone would actually SAY that? Think again. Listen to it in Rush Limbaugh’s own words….
We thought that it was just liberal welfare policies and all that that kept blacks from progressing while other minorities grew and prospered, but no, it is these wackos from Bill Ayers to Jeremiah Wright to other anti-American Afrocentric black liberation theologists with ACORN, and Barack Obama is smack dab in the middle of it, they have been training young black kids to hate, hate, hate this country, and they trained their parents before that to hate, hate, hate this country. It was a movement. It was a Bill Ayers, anti-capitalist, anti-American educational movement. ACORN is how it was implemented, right under our noses.
It has been a movement, it has been a religion, and Obama and Jeremiah Wright and William Ayers were all up to their big ears in it.
This is what the modern conservate movement has become. Just pure unadulterated racist id: “The scary black/brown people hate you and want to kill you and take your money and your jobs and your women and only the Republicans can save you! AAAAHHHH!!!!”
Thankfully, it looks like most Americans are better than that and are tuning them out. Or, better yet, are utterly disgusted by them.

Yep, more car photos. At some point, I swapped in the fisheye lens and retraced my steps, so there may be some deja vu a few posts from now.

Surprisingly, that last one looks pretty cool in B&W, too.

By Miles Kurland. I think it really captures what the McPalin campaign is all about these days.

I’m calling it “Maverican Gothic”.
