Troopergate: It’s On!

Looks like the stonewall is crumbling. I guess Governor Palin’s employees aren’t as willing to overlook judge’s rulings as President Bush’s.

Seven Alaska state employees have reversed course and agreed to testify in an abuse-of-power investigation against Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin.

There is no indication, however, that Palin or her husband will do the same.

(…)

Lawmakers subpoenaed seven state employees to testify in the inquiry but they challenged those subpoenas. A judge rejected that challenge last week. Because of that ruling, Alaska Attorney General Talis Colberg says the employees have decide to testify.

Let’s see how Team McCain tries to stall the investigation now.  I think the only card they can play is that it would be somehow inappropriate to let it influence the outcome of the election.  Which would be absurd if it hadn’t worked once already.

It’s difficult to believe that some Republicans might actually obey the law.

I think they’ve achieved what they needed already. The interviews/hearings probably won’t start for a week or so, and we’re less than a month from the election. Unless there are some real, easy to understand bombshells, the effects of this investigation will probably be felt after the election.

It would be nice to be proved wrong here.
