THIS Is The Proof That I Have No Life???

Saw this on Facebook.  I’ve seen… 151.  I think.  Some of the sequels kind of blur together.  Man, I sure have watched an awful lot of crap.

SUPPOSEDLY if you’ve seen over 85 films, you have no life. Mark the ones you’ve seen. There are 244 films on this list. Copy this list, go to your own facebook account, paste this as a note. Then, put x’s next to the films you’ve seen, add them up, change the header adding your number, and click publish at the bottom. Have fun.

I can’t believe you missed White Chicks. Not to mention Cujo.

I’m soooo disappointed. You have some catching up to do.

    And where is Scanners, huh?

I must have an inverse life – worse than no life because my count is higher.

Looking at the list, I think around 190 would probably be my max in terms of what I would watch voluntarily.

I was surprised that my count made it into double digits: 119. Of the ones that you haven’t seen that I have, there are only a couple I’d recommend. I think that Elf is quite charming and occasionally laugh out loud funny. (I thought it was your policy to see everything with Bob Newhart in it, Eli.) The 40 Year Old Virgin is also okay. And although it’s pretty terrible, I think anyone from our generation has to see 16 Candles because it captures the worst aspects of 1980s teendom.

If you could choose just one of these to permanently blot from your memory, which one would it be? For me, it’d be Last House on the Left, which makes me feel a little unclean for having seen it even to this day. Though the latter two <Matrices would be good choices, too, since they ruined the first one in retrospect.

I always wanted to see Elf, I just never got around to it. Same with 40-Year-Old Virgin, at a much lower level.

I think it’s probably a toss-up between the last two Matrices, the first two Star Wars, Forrest Gump, and the first two hours of Titanic (the actual iceberg/sinking sequence was fantastic – *that* was the movie I wanted to see).

Obviously I need to lend you my copy of Boondock Saints (it was a gift, but really, it’s not bad). Other than that of the unchecked films I’ve only seen Reign of Fire, which was almost worth the dollar to see it at the cheap theater just to MST3K it.

52, and not even really that, because a few of them they obviously mean the recent remake and I only saw the original.

Not only is Elf one of our family’s favorite movies, but we were sitting right next to Zoe Deschanel at a restaurant last year and my then 12 year old daughter started singing Baby it’s Cold Outside (really softly). Too cool. Eli, it’s a must see flick.

If you’ve seen more than 85 films you have no life? I’d think just the opposite, at least if you’ve lived into your mid-thirties.

BTW, which Dawn of the Dead are they referring to?

  • 9. Eli  |  February 11th, 2009 at 6:30 am

Okay, okay, I’ll watch Elf next chance I get.

This is probably not the intent, but wherever there is an original/remake situation, in the absence of any additional guidance, I’m counting it if I’ve seen at least one version thereof.
