Salt For Christians!

I can’t be the only the only one who reads this and hears “No more dirty Jew salt for us righteous Christian folk!” in their head, can I?

Retired barber Joe Godlewski says he was inspired by television chefs who repeatedly recommended kosher salt in recipes.

“I said, ‘What the heck’s the matter with Christian salt?'” Godlewski said, sipping a beer in the living room of his home in unincorporated Cresaptown, a western Maryland mountain community.

By next week, his trademarked Blessed Christians Salt will be available at, the Web site of Memphis, Tenn.-based seasonings manufacturer Ingredients Corporation of America.

Godlewski said his salt, packaged in containers bearing bright red crosses, has at least as much flavor and beneficial minerals as kosher salt – and it’s for a good cause.

“The fact is, it helps Christians and Christian charities,” he said. “This is about keeping Christianity in front of the public so that it doesn’t die. I want to keep Christianity on the table, in the household, however I can do it.”

If the salt takes off, Godlewski plans an entire line of Christian-branded foods, including rye bread, bagels and pickles.

Fan-tastic.  This reminds me of the “W Ketchup” that became popular during the 2004 campaign, only instead of keeping the money away from “Terayzuh” Heinz, they’re keeping it away from the Jews.

I wonder if I can get some white pepper to go with my Christian salt.

Hmm, this sounds kinda familiar…

If you’re inclined to believe Igor Panarin, and the Kremlin wouldn’t mind if you did, then President Barack Obama will order martial law this year, the U.S. will split into six rump-states before 2011, and Russia and China will become the backbones of a new world order.

Panarin might be easy to ignore but for the fact that he is a dean at the Foreign Ministry’s school for future diplomats and a regular on Russia’s state-guided TV channels. And his predictions fit into the anti-American story line of the Kremlin leadership.

One instructor asked Panarin whether his predictions more accurately describe Russia, which is undergoing its worst economic crisis in a decade as well as a demographic collapse that has led some scholars to predict the country’s demise.

Panarin dismissed that idea: “The collapse of Russia will not occur.”

But Alexei Malashenko, a scholar-in-residence at the Carnegie Moscow Center who did not attend the lecture, sided with the skeptical instructor, saying Russia is the country that is on the verge of disintegration.

So… he’s betting on Obama and America to fail (unlike Rush, he claims he’s not wishing for it, but I have a hard time believing him), but it’s his team that’s teetering on the brink of implosion.

Wednesday Why-I-Love-The-Weekly-World-News Blogging

Didn’t see this one coming:

ESPN’s parent company, Walt Disney, is in discussions to create a made-for-TV movie about the rise and fall of Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez. In an additional bombshell for the studio, rumors circulating among Hollywood is that Miley Cyrus will be tapped to play the lead.

Said unconfirmed sources at The Hollywood Reporter: “It’s a list of 4 possibles.  And all 4 are Miley Cyrus”.

Said a disgruntled intern to an executive at Variety: “Miley already approved the script, now they’re just looking for a director”.

Said two actors / directors working at the Sunset Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, “Please read our script, we hate LA”.

….Studio insiders say that Cyrus was their ‘dream choice’ because not only is she as pretty as Alex, but also can portray his fragile feminine side, and his jealous of Jeter insecurities.

Those in the Miley camp were hush about the rumor, although eyewitnesses say Miley recently met with A-Rod’s cousin, Barry Bonds, and Barry’s ex-personal trainer, Greg Anderson, about researching the role.

Would Miley actually juice to get ‘into character’?  Disney had no comment.

Scheduled release date is October 2010, to coincide with A-Rod’s predictable, and annual, playoffs flameout.

Ouch.  Not sure if this would be a good move for Miley’s brand, though.

Role Model Fail

Oh, Darryl, Darryl, Darryl…

Darryl Strawberry used drugs that don’t enhance performance during his playing days. He also would have taken steroids had they been circulating in clubhouses during the 1980s, the former Mets great said Tuesday.

“Hell, yeah, I would have used them. Are you kidding me?” Strawberry said as he kicked off a week as a guest instructor at Mets camp, during a defense of Alex Rodriguez. “You know what, it’s just the point of being in sports. In our nature we’re competitive creatures. We have a tremendous drive and high tolerance and all of these things in us.

“I’m not saying that was the right thing to do,” Strawberry continued, referring to A-Rod’s steroid use. “But if somebody asked me if I would have faced it, what would I have done if that was going on in the era of the ’80s, it definitely probably would have been in my system, too. I probably would have been a part of it, too. And I wouldn’t have denied it, because you guys know I don’t deny anything.”

What a waste of talent Straw was.  He and Doc Gooden could have maybe been two of the all-time greats, and they both pissed it all away.  On the other hand, I suppose it’s nice to know that he underachieved without any artificial aids…
