Entry Filed under: Photoblogging,PittsburghThis week’s quote is from the dark divorce comedy, The War Of The Roses:
I should have seen her toes in the pit of my crotch as a cry for help.
And, of course, there’ll be other people’s baby otters…
Aww. The wee squeaking is especially adorable.

Entry Filed under: Cuteness,Friday Quote & Cat BloggingIn a move that’s unlikely to curry much favor with House progressives, the White House has reaffirmed its commitment to a long-standing deal it made with the pharmaceutical industry, that will require them to cover, through industry reforms, no more than $80 billion worth of what’s expected to be the approximately $1 trillion cost of health care reform.
(…)
The White House’s insistence on maintaining this bargain means the House legislation will have to be changed before a floor vote, or during conference committee with the Senate, leading some to wonder why Obama–who’s been notably averse to drawing lines in the sand over key progressive goals–is putting himself out there for the insurance company.
So Obama’s not willing to go to the mat for a robust public option, but he is willing to go to the mat to protect big pharma? I think that tells us all we need to know about the nature of his commitment to healthcare reform. I wonder if he would actually veto a bill that allowed any government healthcare to use its size to negotiate better drug prices.
You know, while I don’t respect politicians who make sleazy compromises to get re-elected, I can at least understand them. I have a much harder time understanding politicians who make sleazy compromises that make it harder for them to get re-elected. I mean, it’s not like Obama’s taking a courageous stand on principle here.
