Netroots Nation Joe Sestak Photoblogging

And here is the other half of the not-on-the-stage-at-the-same-time showdown between Arlen Specter and Joe Sestak. Sestak’s manner was aggressive to the point of almost angry (he grabbed or poked Ari Melber’s arm a few times), and he flubbed his lines a few times. He was also rather spectacularly stumped by a question about how he would reach out to the Pennsylvania netroots.

I’m still voting for him, though.

Sunday Mr. Deity Blogging

Mr. Deity shows Lucy the awesome gifts he’s giving his people.  Believe me, we couldn’t be more grateful.

Bonus Larry/Deity interview at the end.

Netroots Nation Arlen Specter Photoblogging

Hey look, it’s my new *cough* Democratic senator, Arlen Specter! He actually made a very good case for himself, provided you don’t know anything about his actual legislative record.

Arlen looks out at the audience and wonders what he’s gotten himself into.

Reviewing his index cards.

Behold, he smiles!

* WPG2 Plugin Not Validated *
If I blow this up all the way, I can almost read his index card, but it’s just a little too blurry. Phooey.

Arlen gestures very sincerely.

Conservatives Are Literally Insane, OMG TEH FAIRNESS DOCTRINE Edition

Apparently the FCC appointing someone with “no plans or interest” in restoring the Fairness Doctrine as its Chief Diversity Officer/Associate General Counsel is incontrovertible proof that Obama plans to restore the Fairness Doctrine JUST LIKE THEY’VE BEEN WARNING US ALL ALONG OMG.  The Michael Savage bit is my favorite:

The most absurd attacks have come from pundits like right-wing radio host Michael Savage, who has called Lloyd a “neo-Nazi” and “piece of garbage” intent on closing down “conservatives in the media.” He said that Lloyd’s title — Chief Diversity Officer — is “code word for the KGB.”

While it is certainly true that the KGB were renowned the world over for their maniacal commitment to diversity, I’m pretty sure they drew the line at neo-Nazis.

Chuck Grassley’s reaction to the appointment is the most telling, however:

I am concerned that despite his statements that the Fairness Doctrine is unnecessary, Mr. Lloyd supports a backdoor method of furthering the goals of the Fairness Doctrine by other means.

Um, aren’t “the goals of the Fairness Doctrine”… fairness?  Wasn’t its primary objective to minimize media bias?  So Chuck Grassley is actually admitting that he wants to preserve conservative media bias?  Wow.
