The 99.99% Doctrine

Why is it that the Cheney Doctrine dictates that “If there’s a 1% chance that Pakistani scientists are helping al-Qaeda build or develop a nuclear weapon, we have to treat it as a certainty in terms of our response”, yet we need a 99.99% level of certainty that climate change will completely disrupt the world as we know it before we can take even the most modest and incremental steps to reduce carbon emissions?

Profiles In Courage

Politico praises the fearlessness of outgoing WaPo ombudsman Andy Alexander’s hard-hitting final column, in which he takes the paper to task for excessive typos, corrections, and use of anonymous sources.  Yep, he sure did dig deep to get at the essence of journalism there.

Best of all, Hagey seems surprised that the WaPo newsroom was okay with this savage and discrediting beating that Alexander supposedly administered.
