Missed PAnniversary

I completely forgot, sometime early last week (Tuesday, I believe) marked my 20th year in Pittsburgh.  At some point this year I will have been a Pittsburgher longer than I’ve been a New Yorker (there were a couple of years in between when I was a Californian, kind of like a demilitarized buffer zone).  Crazy.

I moved willingly from eastern PA back in the 1970s, yet there are times when I still think of it as home. If you grew up in a place, it never quite leaves you.

Moonlight Graham’s speech about home in Field Of Dreams really struck a chord with me. Especially the part about how the wind never blows so cold again – I remember walking through NYC one winter in the snow with my jacket open, and just feeling totally happy and at peace with the world.

Sorry I missed it, too, Eli.

I thought you had arrived on the 14th. But my memory is somewhat muddy on the matter, since I also thought that we had picked you up from the airport and gone directly to Three Rivers to see this game:

But that game took place on the 19th.

    (Fucking Curtis Wilkerson.)

I remember that game. Definitely did not remember seeing it on my first day, tho.
