This week’s quote is from Monster In A Box, Spalding Gray’s spoken-word movie about the reaction to his spoken-word movie, Swimming To Cambodia, and his attempts to write a book. This particular quote relates to his surprise at the lack of vodka in post-glasnost Russia, and the lack of anyone talking about the lack of vodka:
Do you remember the vodka? When will the vodka come again?
And, of course, there’ll be other people’s turtles…

Well, that’s it for the Philly photos - just a couple more building shots:

Well, I’m almost done with the Philly photos. I should have enough for one more post after this one.
The reflection is clearer in color, but the colors look washed-out and unattractive. So I’m sticking with B&W.
The colors are pretty much essential to this one, however.
I’m drawn to alleyways like this, I’m not sure why.

This week’s quote is from Topsy-Turvy, about Gilbert & Sullivan’s production of The Mikado:
The builder was much bemused. “What’s the point of having a bathroom to every bedroom? Who’s going to be staying there? Amphibians?”
And, of course, there’ll be other people’s… reptiles.

Yep, I’m back to Seinfeld mode: just some Photos About Nothing…
Balcony!
Crate!
Loading ramp!
Whew, too much excitement, I gotta go sit down. Oh, right, I already am sitting down…

This week’s quote is from the very underrated Cabin Boy, starring Chris Elliott:
Sweet Mary! She’s got more whiskers than a laid-off circus clown!
And, of course, there’ll be other people’s gorillas…

Pretty much what it sounds like. This building had some kind of bracket-looking ornamentation on it, which offered numerous photographic possibilities.

Very cool sculpture “installation” in the Comcast building:
But I couldn’t help feeling a bit of deja vu…
Believe it or not, this isn’t the first time something like this has happened.

This week’s quote is from a strange, low-rent vampire comedy called Blood & Donuts:
You see the difference? Mine left a mark, whereas yours left a smudge. Most people have some dignity - most people long to leave a mark. If it were just a question of smudges… they wouldn’t need the bowling shoe rule.
And, of course, there’ll be other people’s gorillas…
This was just before the giant silverback came out of nowhere, charged the glass at full speed, and then pulled up at the last possible second.

A couple of statues from Philadelphia:
Ben Franklin at his printing press.
A closer look.
Some guy hailing a cab. I’m going to guess former mayor.

Some more photos from the Philly Subway. I didn’t really want any people in the shot, but this woman on her cellphone just was not going anywhere…

It’s just barely a theme, and I kinda had to stretch it a bit, but here are some vaguely building-related things. From Philly.
JUSTICE!!!
(The shadowy & mysterious Codename V. thinks JUSTICE looks a bit like Donald Sutherland, and she may have a point.)
Freaky lightglobe in the entranceway to… a building!
And here I believe we have… William Penn’s butt.

More Philly photos:
To be honest, I can’t remember what this was from…
Some kind of governmenty-looking building.
Governmenty-looking building reflected in an officey-looking building.
Yes, those are actual architectural terms.

Nope, still no theme. But I might have some subway photos later - Woohoo!
The reflection of the blue sky is much more visible in color, but I still think it looks crisper in B&W. As usual.
If you click to see the larger version, you can see the spiderweb underneath the sign on the left. I don’t think I even noticed it when I took the shot, so… bonus!
See? I can still do color on occasion. Look how nice and red that button is!

I’m talking about those big outdoor restaurant umbrellas, of course.
These were a lovely shade of red, but as usual I liked the B&W shadows better. Plus the blown-out sky looks less crap.
I think this one was beige, so B&W was a no-brainer.
You make the call:
Color?
…Or black & white?

Perhaps “creepy” is a little strong. How about “vaguely unsettling”?
I usually try to avoid over-processing, but I liked the way it brought out the contrast of the smoothed-over bumps.
Flute Wizard looks more than a little… manic, no?
Cherub. ‘Nuff said.

Just some more Philly photos with absolutely nothing in common.
Possibly some sort of devil-pigeon.
Parking garage.
Sculpture bolted to the side of a building. It was in some rather pleasant shades of blue, but I liked the sharpness of the shadows and the glow of the light in B&W.
