Okay, this is finally it for the Netroots Nation photos: Darcy Burner’s closing keynote address. For those of you who want to relive the whole thing, my complete NN09 gallery is here.

PA State Senator Jim Ferlo and Representative Eric Massa (NY-29) at the Netroots Nation closing keynote. You wouldn’t think it to look at him, but Ferlo is a total DFH.
Jim Ferlo.
Jim Ferlo vs. The Giant Random Head.
Ferlo and Massa!
Massa and Ferlo!
Massa by himself!

Three Amigos Edition, as Adam Bonin, Arshad Hasan, and Raven Brooks all came out on stage together.
First, Adam led the audience through a surprisingly charming rendition of Frere Jacques.
Then Raven explained some stuff.
And then Arshad rifled through his own wallet (not pictured).

Okay, I think this is the last of the convention center photos – next up, the closing keynote.
Pretty damn cool, as elevators go.
A nice empty corridor.
Close-up of the tubes and lights in the big hall.
The overpriced concession stand.
Umm… Ceiling thingy? Possibly the underside of the escalator.
Hey, look who beamed in! Uh, twice, apparently.

Pics from the how-can-progressives-have-an-impact-on-the-legislative-process? panel:
Moderator Darcy Burner, Joan McCarter/McJoan, and half of David Waldman/Kagro X.
David Waldman and Chris Bowers.
Chris Bowers and Jane Hamsher.
Jane looks skeptical.

Alas, due to the FDL luncheon, I just barely had enough time to catch the early afternoon panels.
Marcy on the torture accountability panel.
I just barely caught Don Siegelman on the DOJ accountability panel, who had to leave early to catch a flight.
Saying his goodbyes to former Allegheny County Coroner Cyril Wecht.
Cyril Wecht, all alone now.
Andrew Krieg.

There were some panels I just didn’t get a lot of photos of, due to either time or lighting constraints. Some photos from the campaign finance reform panel, and the “Building A 21st Century Economy” panel.
Professor Lawrence Lessig. He gave a fantastic presentation on our corrupt finance system and the need for public campaign financing, but the house lights never came back up afterward…
Dave Donnelly of the Public Campaign Action Fund.
Dave again. The low light makes his eyes look like they’re almost all pupil, which is either kinda cool or kinda scary.
SEIU Secretary-Treasurer Anna Burger, and economist Dean Baker.
Moderator Kevin Drum. Trivia: His old blog, Political Animal, was my introduction to the world of blogs and commenting. So you all have him to blame.
Dean Baker and NJ Governor John Corzine.

From Baratunde Thurston’s chat with Obama friend and adviser Valerie Jarrett. To be truthful, Baratunde was photographically a lot more interesting…
Baratunde firing up the audience.
Heeeeere’s…
Valerie!
Baratunde asking a question.
Valerie answering.
Valerie cracking up a little.

In which I make all the panelists hate me:
I. Love. This. Photo.
Darcy is overwhelmed. Actually, I think she was cracking up. Adam is only mildly amused.
Eden is skeptical.
Holy crap, Matt is going to leap over the table and beat me to death. And Arshad is no help at all.

Yes, I still have more photos of the building…
For those of you new to this blog, I really like shadows.
Mystery Stairway!
I am fascinated by the upper reaches of the main halls.
Some say that NN warps your view of the outside world.
Looking right…

The What’s-Wrong-With-My-Microphone edition (there was all kinds of mystery feedback that no-one could seem to get rid of):
Darcy Burner.
Moderator David Atkins/thereisnospoon.
Courage Campaign’s Eden James.
DFA’s Arshad Hasan and SEIU’s Matt Browner Hamlin.
Darcy and Adam Lambert/clammyc. I don’t have any pictures of him playing with his mic, alas.

I was in such a rush to start posting El Medico Dean photos, I forgot that I still had some Clinton ones left in the hopper:
Expansive Clinton is expansive!
…And we have lip-biting.

Christy points, Doug Kendall listens.
Rep. Jerry Nadler in action.

Talking about Sotomayor, the Supreme Court, and the Constitution. No big whoop.
Christy is in her element, flanked by moderator Thomas Saenz and CAC founder and president Doug Kendall.
Doug watches Rep. Jerry Nadler explain stuff.
Christy looks quizzical.
Nan Aron is totally grooving to Jerry.
Jerry’s not the only one whose voice is like sweet, sweet music.

Photos from the panel on environmental policy:
OMG, Representative Jay Inslee has a microphone for a nose!
Oops, my bad, it was just an optical illusion – I was so eager to get the scoop that I forgot to check my facts. I would like to apologize to Congressman Inslee and his family, and to anyone else who might have been offended by my totally understandable mistake.
Denis Hayes, coordinator of the first Earth Day and all-around Hero For The Planet.
Moderator Nan Aron, president of the Alliance for Justice.
Phil Radford, executive director of Greenpeace.
Adam Siegel, tireless enviroblogger.

More pictures of the convention center itself:
Skylight in the main hall.
I suppose this could technically be considered a people photo…
I like the exposed structural elements.
A closer look at said elements.
Shadows from the skylight.

And here is the other half of the not-on-the-stage-at-the-same-time showdown between Arlen Specter and Joe Sestak. Sestak’s manner was aggressive to the point of almost angry (he grabbed or poked Ari Melber’s arm a few times), and he flubbed his lines a few times. He was also rather spectacularly stumped by a question about how he would reach out to the Pennsylvania netroots.
I’m still voting for him, though.

Hey look, it’s my new *cough* Democratic senator, Arlen Specter! He actually made a very good case for himself, provided you don’t know anything about his actual legislative record.
Arlen looks out at the audience and wonders what he’s gotten himself into.
Reviewing his index cards.
Behold, he smiles!
If I blow this up all the way, I can almost read his index card, but it’s just a little too blurry. Phooey.
Arlen gestures very sincerely.

The five of you who read my blog regularly know that all these people pictures I’ve been posting from Netroots Nation are totally out of character for me. I’m much more comfortable walking around taking pictures of the building itself. Like so:
Yes, I was taking pictures of the ceiling during the opening keynote ceremony.
The railing on the stage right before Bill Clinton appeared. Although I assume it looked pretty much the same after he appeared, too.
Chairs waiting for Mike Lux, Tanya Tarr, and Howard Dean.
This was on the other side from the main hall where the keynotes were. I guess it’s basically for storage and spare parts.
It looks a little bit like the inside of an alien spacecraft…

El Medico Dean in the house to talk about healthcare:
Mike Lux, Tanya Tarr, and Howard Dean file onto the stage.
That’s nothing – wait’ll I post the one of Arlen Specter mooning us.
Howard’s not camera shy.
Howard can gesture with two hands…
Or one hand. He’s multitalented.
Mike Lux, Tanya Tarr, and some random guy’s ginormous head.

More Big Dog:
He kinda looks like he’s reliving a happy memory here…
I kept waiting for him to actually put the glasses on, but he never did.
Democrats want to make the pie up here…
But Republicans keep putting the pie down here.
Okay, we’re putting the pie away now.
Bill waves his to his new buddy Lane Hudson.
